From Student to Leader: The Story of Nicole Valencia Tello
We believe in the power of direct investment in the leaders of tomorrow. Through our commitment to community impact, CAVU Securities is proud to support Girls Who Code, helping make stories like Nicole Valencia Tello’s possible.
A Journey Sparked by Inspiration
Nicole Valencia Tello’s path to becoming a Product Manager at American Express began with a single moment of inspiration. In 2013, as a high school student, she heard Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani speak at the Women in the World Summit, a chance encounter that ignited her passion for technology and gender equity in STEM.
Fueled by this spark, Nicole joined Girls Who Code’s inaugural Summer Immersion Program, an experience that not only deepened her technical skills but also connected her to a powerful network of like-minded young women. Determined to continue the movement, she founded Columbia University’s first Girls Who Code campus program, which later evolved into the nationwide College Loops initiative.
Building Pathways for Hundreds of Young Women
While studying Computer Science and Linguistics at Columbia, Nicole led two fully funded programs that taught coding to more than 500 high school girls, opening doors to opportunities that many had never imagined possible. She also served twice as a Summer Immersion Program teacher, sharing her knowledge and mentorship with the next generation of coders.
Now, as a proud first-generation college graduate and a Product Manager at American Express, Nicole continues to give back. She serves on Girls Who Code’s Alumni Advisory Council, helping ensure student voices remain central to the organization’s mission and programming.

Nicole’s journey reflects the kind of transformation that happens when organizations directly invest in opportunity. CAVU Securities’ contribution to Girls Who Code ensures that young women like Nicole have the resources, mentorship, and encouragement they need to thrive in technology and beyond.
